Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered into a search box is sent directly to the third-party company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its own results. Missouri Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so a response can be provided. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may record basic technical information about the visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when available
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show broad patterns, such as popular pages and where visits end. Analytics providers may combine that traffic information. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some parts of the website function.
What We Do With This Data
- Finding and resolving technical problems
- Measuring which pages are useful and which need improvement
- Operating the website and maintaining performance
- Sending search requests to the selected outside provider
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Missouri Criminal History does not compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general directions to MSHP CJIS, Missouri Case.net, the Missouri Department of Corrections, the Missouri Sex Offender Registry, and local offices across 114 counties and the independent City of St. Louis. Missouri Sunshine Law governs records of Missouri public bodies, and § 43.540 RSMo addresses dissemination and use of Central Repository information. Neither law turns this private site into the government custodian of those records. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. We do not control those terms. Read the provider's policy before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Missouri agencies, courts, county sheriffs and clerks, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy terms apply. Review those terms before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when valid legal process requires disclosure
- Advertising networks that place ads on the website
- Analytics companies that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that process a visitor's submitted query
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet service is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, it will be deleted.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Missouri or federal privacy and consumer-protection law may provide additional rights. The Missouri Sunshine Law concerns access to government records, not private-site visitor files, while § 43.540 RSMo applies to criminal-history information maintained through Missouri's repository system. Subject to the law that applies, a visitor may:
- Object to certain forms of data processing
- Request deletion of personal information
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request a copy of personal information we retain

This policy may be revised. Any new version will appear here with an updated effective date, and use of the website after that date is subject to the revised policy.
