About Missouri Criminal History

Missouri criminal records are spread among statewide and local offices. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Justice Information Services Division maintains the Central Repository. Missouri courts hold case files, the Missouri Department of Corrections tracks people in state custody or supervision, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry serves its separate public-safety role. Sheriffs, police departments, jails, and circuit courts create much of the local source material. Missouri Criminal History helps readers identify the right system among all 114 counties and the independent City of St. Louis.

Why We Built This Site

Public access in Missouri depends on who made and keeps a record. MSHP CJIS compiles reportable events in the Central Repository and provides official criminal-history products through MACHS. Missouri Case.net displays public court information. The Missouri Department of Corrections covers active state custody and supervision, while the Missouri Sex Offender Registry is a distinct statewide system. A local arrest report, booking entry, jail roster, or complete case file can remain with the agency or circuit court that created it. We built Missouri Criminal History to make those divisions clear and to connect statewide research with the Missouri county directory.

What We Cannot Do

Missouri Criminal History is a privately operated reference resource, not part of a Missouri court, law-enforcement agency, or state department. That distinction creates firm limits:

  • We cannot issue certified court documents, rap sheets, or other official records
  • We cannot submit a Sunshine Law request or expungement petition for a visitor
  • We cannot perform an official criminal-history check
  • We cannot interpret a charge, case, or Missouri law as legal advice
  • We cannot promise that an agency's fee, address, phone number, or procedure has not changed

An official copy must come from MSHP CJIS, the Missouri court, or the local office that created and retains the record. This private resource cannot certify it.
